Law, Liberty, Property, and Resistance in the Writings of John Locke
ABSTRACT
Locke’s place in Western political thought is secured not so much by his originality as by his powerful restatement and synthesis of ideas that long preceded the modern era. To what degree are his political, epistemological, and juristic concepts consistent and compatible? Perhaps more importantly, do they have to be consistent and compatible for the sake of his defense of liberty and limited government?
